Cafe 2017 Mokpo || South Korea Specialty Coffee Guide
After spending a few weeks in Busan, I made my way down to the lazy port town of Mokpo before taking the ferry to Jeju Island. Mokpo doesn't have much going on but I did manage to find a beautifully curated specialty coffee cafe that also doubled as a hair salon. Let me introduce you to Cafe 2017 in Mokpo South Korea.

Cafe 2017 is located on a nondescript stretch of road. I walked from my hotel to Cafe 2017 using a locals exercise path that ran adjacent to the main road. There were a few small areas to sit as well as groups of exercise machines (public exercise machines are very popular in Korea). It was a pleasant walk; bustling with locals exercising, walking their dogs & playing with their children in the small park areas.
The cafe is two stories, however, the top floor is dedicated to a salon. The interior of this cafe & salon is so well curated & is such an inviting space to spend time alone or in a group. Out the back, they have a deck with a very inviting chill out area.
The menu was in Korean which did not surprise me. I could read the basics like cappuccino & espresso, however, I was after a filter pour over. Alas, they did not serve this so in lieu I asked the lady behind the counter to make me her favourite drink. This is my usual strategy when I either can't read the menu or they have too many tasty options. I've never been disappointed with what I've received.
After a few minutes, the kind lady bought out the drinks. Oh my gosh. These were some of the most beautiful beverages I'd ever seen.
This drink was my first introduction to what would become an unhealthy obsession. You see the fluff ontop of this drink? That was the most delicious thing. I have no idea what it is but it was sweet, fluffy & paired so beautifully with coffee. This coffee fluff could be found across many coffee shops in Korea & you best believe I ordered every one. Milk foam is so 2017 people!
Another addiction that I now can't deny after going to Korea is their love of cinnamon atop coffee. Its a true delight.
Now im not sure what flavour this drink actually was but it was pretty darn good. I would definatley have it again.
I spent a good two hours at this cafe as it was a really nice place to be & the drinks that came out were absolutely delicious.
If you are even in Mokpo I highly recommend Cafe 2017.
