Progress coffee Hiroshima || Japan specialty coffee guide
Hiroshima is at the top of the list of cities I have fallen in love with.
From its expansive mountain scape, to the lazy river that splits the city; Hiroshima is the lush green metropolis that I want to spend my long summer days in. Despite the tragic past of Hiroshima, the atmosphere here is one of tranquility.
Take a walk in the Peace Park or a lazy day trip to Miyajima Island up the road. There is something for everyone in Hiroshima including coffee lovers!
Welcome to Progress Coffee
1-15 Shintenchi, Naka Ward, Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture 730-0034, Japan
Progress Coffee is an unassuming bar that caters to so many needs and nails it!
The crowd was small on one particular rainy afternoon in Hiroshima but by 6PM the bar and upstairs room were full!
If you’re a serious coffee fan like me they have an extensive list of espresso and filter coffee offerings.
Like cute animals? The latte art here is adorable! Request a cute design or let the latte masters surprise you!
The beer, cocktail and straight liquor menu is extensive with all drinks around the ¥600 ($7.30 AUD) mark.
And lets not forget the bar snacks and delicious baked goods! I’m talkin’ salted olives, I’m talkin’ smoked salmon salad, I’m talkin’ natural yeast bread fondu! The baked sweet goods are the perfect addition to a rainy afternoon. I couldn’t go past their Caramel Cheese cake.
If you’re looking for a low key place to chat with friends I highly recommend making your way upstairs to the intimate dining room. There is a window overlooking the street below so you could spend a few hours people watching.
